5 Quick tips to be creative
Some people believe that being creative is something that a person is born with. Weel, even though that might be a bit true, there also a few techniques that one can use to improve creative capacity. Here I chose 5 of the most common and easy to help with that. So let’s go!
- Think of a solution for a daily problem
For sure there are some things in your daily life that make you think “why is this like that?”. So, imagine if you had the opportunity to come up with a solution for it.
2. Imagine a tool that could help you in a task
You have a task to do and would be awesome to easily accomplish it? When you think of your needs, could something do it for you? It might seem difficult to think about this, but imagine if we didn’t have bikes, cars and other transports?! These loved ones were initially created to enable people to get to places, avoiding long walks.
3. Write down 10 ideas of anything that come to mind
A book, a song, a painting, a shirt, a new dish or anything else. For sure there is something that you’d love to do but you are always postponing it. Make a list and start writing/creating it. If you want to write a song, write what type of music it will be, if it is romantic or funny, fast or slow paced. You need to start somewhere.
4. Change the way you do things
This might be the easiest one. Change a bit every task that you do, at least one day per week. For example, I brush my teeth with the right hand. But on Wednesdays, I do it with my left hand. Use fork and knife in a different way, or try eating with a small spoon. Those silly changes put our brain in an uncomfortable position as if we had forgotten how to do something really basic.
5. Imagine (or create) a totally different routine
If you work from nine to six, you can just imagine how would a perfect day be. Try to think of a perfect weekend or a perfect day off. For those who are freelances or can totally control their schedule, one good idea is to create a different week (or at least a day). If you usually work out in the morning, try working really early and then going to the gym afterward.
Of course, those steps are not enough to make you the next Steve Jobs. But is a nice guide to be more creative than you are now.
Let’s do it!
